Hi bridal babes (and the occasional groom or retail-loving relative), welcome back to another round of unfiltered wedding wisdom with Martini Mondays with Chrissy! We took a quick break, but this week we’re back, holiday hangovers and all—talking all things holiday weekend weddings. Are they a dream come true… or a planning nightmare?

First things first—The Drink of the Week
While Chrissy was sidelined from sipping (doctor’s orders, not ours!), I was flying solo with a festive Apple Pie Martini, rimmed in graham cracker and cinnamon. Think cozy fall vibes meets Fourth of July spirit. Want the recipe? It’s vodka + vanilla liqueur (we love Licor 43) + apple cider + a dash of citrus = apple pie in a glass. Yes, please.
So… Should You Get Married on a Holiday Weekend?
Let’s break it down, shall we?
✔️ The Pros
- Extra day off = More time to party. Sunday weddings suddenly feel like Saturday ones.
- Built-in travel time for out-of-town guests. They can make a weekend out of it!
- Potential cost savings on Friday or Sunday bookings (though beware, some venues up-charge now).
- Holiday vibes can add to the fun—just don’t go full theme. A little nod to the holiday? Cute. Red, white, and blue bridesmaids? We’re calling the fashion police.
- Extended celebration opportunities: Welcome party, wedding, next-day brunch. It’s giving ✨wedding weekend takeover✨ in the best way.
❌ The Cons
- Higher travel costs and congestion (hello, airport chaos).
- Guests may decline if the holiday is meaningful for them (think Thanksgiving traditions or retail workers missing big sales).
- Vendor and venue availability can be tight—especially for major holidays like New Year’s Eve.
- People may be overbooked during December or just not in the mood to squeeze in your event among their 27 other commitments.
Our Take? Plan With Intention
If you’re leaning toward a holiday date, communicate early and clearly:
- Send save-the-dates ASAP
- Create a detailed wedding website
- Block hotel rooms in advance
- And budget carefully—some costs may skyrocket around holidays.
One More Tangent (Because… Martini Mondays)
If you’re traveling for your wedding, do NOT check your gown in luggage like it’s just another beach cover-up. Some brides go so far as to buy their dress a plane ticket. (Yes, seriously.) Others have been wheeled through the airport like royalty, gown draped over them like a couture cape. Bottom line: Protect the dress at all costs!
Final Sip
Whether you’re dancing ‘til 3 AM like me (and nursing sore feet for a week) or keeping things chill with a long weekend of events, holiday weddings can be incredible when done right. Just don’t forget, not everyone will be able—or willing—to shift their own traditions for your big day. And that’s okay.
As always, if you’re planning something fabulous and want us to weigh in, drop us a DM. And if you’re just here for the cocktails—we’ve got you covered there too.
Until next Monday,
Cheers + Kisses,
Alexandra
Apple Pie Martini
Tastes like the all-American classic—but make it chic and boozy.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz vodka (your favorite brand)
- 1.5 oz vanilla liqueur (we love Licor 43)
- 2 oz apple cider
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- A squeeze of fresh lime juice
- Crushed graham crackers + cinnamon (for rimming)
Instructions:
- Rim your glass: Mix crushed graham crackers and a pinch of cinnamon on a small plate. Lightly wet the rim of a martini glass with lime juice and dip into the graham mix. Set aside.
- Mix the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add vodka, vanilla liqueur, apple cider, cinnamon, and a squeeze of lime.
- Shake well until chilled and slightly frothy.
- Strain into your prepared martini glass.
- Garnish (optional): Add a thin apple slice or cinnamon stick for extra flair.
Cheers, babe! Perfect for weddings on the Fourth of July, holiday hangs in general, or just because it’s Monday.
