Martini Monday: Chat #8 A Big Fat Texas Wedding

Martini Mondays Logo

Hi friends, it’s Alexandra! Welcome back to the A.C.E Styling blog where I spill a little bridal tea—and this week, it’s Texas-sized. On the latest episode of Martini Mondays with Chrissy, my mom (yes, Chrissy to me and the inner circle… despite the recent backlash 😂) and I recapped my brother George’s unforgettable wedding to the love of his life, Morgan, down in Frisco, Texas.

Spoiler: we weren’t drinking martinis during this chat—cut us some slack, it was 10:45 AM and I hadn’t slept in days thanks to croupy kids and wedding exhaustion. But the stories? Worth the wait.

A Celebration, Not Just a Wedding

Let’s start with the big picture: this wasn’t just a wedding—it was a 4-day celebration full of love, laughter, and seriously good food. From the Haywire rehearsal dinner with its perfectly Texan barbecue buffet to a sweet Sunday brunch at the Omni (I’ll get to that later), it was go-go-go in the best way possible. I’m still recovering, TBH.

The Venue Glow-Up

We saw the venue, The Star where the Dallas Cowboys practice, back in April, and while it was beautiful then, nothing prepared us for how it transformed at night. Picture a 100-ft ceiling with cascading crystals and twinkling lights. The space—marble floors, glass walls, and all—came alive, especially when the lights dimmed just enough to let those crystals sparkle. Morgan’s last-minute decision to add pops of pink to the décor? A chef’s kiss choice. It gave life to an already stunning, sleek space.

Details, Darling

Morgan nailed every detail—like, every detail. From personalized newspapers in the welcome baskets to the signature monogram at the bar, nothing was missed. One of my favorites? The charcuterie cones passed during cocktail hour (a crowd-pleaser and a toddler distraction, thank you Stefania 🧀).

The DJ booth backdrop with their last name in mirrored script, the lush florals, the menus, the thoughtful signage—it was a full-on design moment.

The Red Wine Scandal

Okay, fine, one critique… and it’s not even on George or Morgan. Apparently, you cannot serve red wine at the venue because of the marble floors. My Dad showed up to the table with rosé and looked like he had just been told that my other brother’s wedding was going to be on a Friday at the end of the month. IYKYK.

Styling Save of the Day

Quick bridal PSA: don’t skip the bustle. Morgan’s alterations place (not where she bought the gown) forgot to add one. Luckily, I was there with my stylist hat on, and a few safety pins later, I whipped up an emergency under-bustle in the venue’s office. Not ideal, but it held all night. Brides, this is why hiring a bridal stylist (hi, me!) is a game-changer. We anticipate the mishaps, come with emergency kits, and make sure your day runs smoother than a Texas twang.

Morgan’s Advice for Future Brides

Morgan graciously shared her favorite moment and some solid advice. Aside from marrying George (🥹), her top moment was walking into the reception and seeing her vision come to life. Planning from Pullman, WA wasn’t easy, so seeing all the months of design and decision-making come together meant the world.

Her biggest tip? Assign small tasks to your bridesmaids. Whether it’s wrangling drinks, grabbing your details box for the photographer, or holding onto lipstick, it helps more than you think. And if it’s in your budget, hire both a wedding planner and a venue coordinator. That combo gave her peace of mind she didn’t know she needed.

One Big Texas Thank You

Above all, what stood out the most was the love in the room. Every guest—from Chicago to across the country—was there because they wanted to be. That’s rare and special. George was emotional (yes, crying) because he’s missed so many weddings due to coaching. This time, people showed up for him—and it meant everything.

Shoutout Corner

Special shoutout to my cousin Nicholas, who showed up looking fabulous, said wants to be a guest on Martini Mondays! Let us know what you want us to ask a 33-year-old, soon-to-be dad civil engineer. 😄

And props to the Omni Frisco team—from valet to front desk, they treated us like VIPs. If I could move to Texas, I would. And yes, I’m looking at you, Highland Park.

Thanks for reading this week’s recap! Whether you’re planning your own wedding or just love hearing how it all really goes down, I hope you enjoyed this peek into our Big Fat Texas Wedding.

Talk soon—and next time, I promise there’ll be martinis.
Cheers + Kisses,
Alexandra
