This week was a first for Martini Mondays—Chrissy and I actually recorded ourselves on video. Yep, you can officially see our faces now. She wasn’t exactly thrilled about the whole “get camera-ready” part (it’s once a week, people, she can glam it up!), but then Chrissy saw someone on the news making it big on video and insisted. So here we are, finally…
Of course, martinis were involved.
Sip of the Week: On The Rocks Lemon Drop
We tried the On The Rocks Lemon Drop Martini, and honestly? It’s good. Sweet, light, and super easy—especially when you don’t have time to mix up something fancy. Chrissy grabbed it at Mariano’s, and pro tip: they go on sale all the time, so stock up when you see them. While the Espresso Martini and Old Fashioned from the same line still hold the top spots for us, the Lemon Drop was a fun twist.
To make things even cuter, Chrissy pulled out these bathing suit–shaped cocktail napkins she’s had tucked away for six years. She claimed she was saving them for a “special occasion” … so apparently, our first video chat made the cut.
The Wedding Chat: Big Bridal Parties After 40?
After a few sips, we dove into weddings. The hot topic this week? Bridal parties in your late 30s and 40s.
Here’s the truth: when you’ve got kids, careers, and a million responsibilities, being asked to stand up in someone’s wedding can feel like a lot. My friends and I—who all happen to be turning 40 soon—pretty much agreed: keep it simple. One maid of honor, maybe two bridesmaids max, and call it a day.
I even told my brother George’s fiancée, Morgan, that she doesn’t need to ask me to be a bridesmaid. My kids are already in the wedding, and trust me, that’s enough to juggle on its own. That doesn’t mean I’m not helping—I’ll bustle the dress, calm nerves, whatever’s needed—but I don’t need to walk down the aisle again to prove it.
And if someone asks you to be in their wedding and it doesn’t feel right? It’s okay to politely say no. Supporting the bride doesn’t always mean standing in matching dresses. Sometimes the best gift you can give is your help, love, and sanity.
Bridesmaid Fashion Hits & Misses
Of course, we couldn’t resist reminiscing about past bridesmaid dresses. There were definitely some wins—like the silk charcoal gray gowns at a New Year’s Eve wedding or the stunning one-shoulder dresses I wore once. And then there were the misses… rainbow weddings of the 80s and today’s pastel “Valentine candy heart” trend. Yikes.
Wrapping It Up
So that’s where we landed this week: less is more when it comes to bridal parties after 40, the Lemon Drop martini tastes even better the more you sip it, and maybe—just maybe—video will become a regular part of Martini Mondays.
Let us know if you love seeing us, or if you’d rather just hear us. Either way, we’ll keep the martinis coming.
Cheers & Kisses!
